Handing over of voters cards in Garoua Boulai

In a ceremony rich in pomp and fanfare, the Deputy Director General of Elections Cameroon, Erik ESSOUSSE, solemnly handed out the voter’s card, on 31 May 2016, in Garoua-Boulaï.

Germaine Betare is the 40 thousandth woman enrolled on electoral registers during the operation dubbed “March: women’s month, ELECAM targets women”. The lucky woman received her voter’s card, on 31 May 2016, from the hands of the Deputy Director General of Elections against a festive backdrop organised at Garoua-Boulaï by the Directorate General of Elections.

Located in the East Region, close to the borders with the Central African Republic, under the Lom-et-Djerem Division, the Garoua-Boulaï Sub-Division was created in 1966, and then raised to a council in 1977. This town has more than 80 000 inhabitants with an electoral potential estimated at 17 178 electors enrolled, as of 31 May 2016.

The Deputy Director General of Elections, Erik ESSOUSE, lauded the patriotic spirit of the recipient and exhorted women to enrol in great numbers on electoral registers, for the primary objective of this operation, he stated, is to boost the rate of female enrolment on electoral registers.
